Policy Holders of America
Dear Friend:
Remember when you were a kid and you and your friends hit a ball through your neighbor's window? If your parents were like mine, they dragged you over to your neighbor, made you apologize and for the next several months, you found yourself doing odd jobs to earn enough money to pay for the repairs. That's called taking responsibility.
While the average citizen must take responsibility for their actions, most insurance companies do not. I've never seen one of them admit they handled a claim improperly. Instead, they blame the homeowner, the builder or anyone else within ear's shot.
It is the insurance industry's refusal to take responsibility that has led to an increasing number of wrongful denials, delays and disputes about the scope of loss. Their behavior forces policyholders to fight for the coverage they were sold.
Policyholders of America or POA is a not-for-profit organization that empowers the policyholder. The organization was founded by policyholders who, probably like you, found themselves entangled in the web of insurance fraud, bad faith and unfair claims handling practices.
It's easy to fall into the victim category when a multi-billion dollar insurance company puts the screws to you. Don't. You will do nothing to move forward if you are too busy feeling victimized. That's where we come in
POA's mission is simple:
Guiding policyholders through the claims process;
Eradicating fraud and bad faith from the claim handling process;
Sponsoring medical research in specific target areas;
Demanding lower premium rates that better reflect actual coverage received;
Endorsing and supporting candidates who are champions of public interest; and
Exposing elected and appointed officials who have betrayed the public's interests
While we do provide tips and strategies to help with the claims process, we are not promoters of litigation. Depending on the situation, there are a number of other alternatives available to the policyholder that should be explored before resorting to legal remedies. However, once all other alternatives are explored, we stand ready to assist your legal team with database information that may prove invaluable to your case.
